I have the honour to inform you that I have

under consideration the further amendment of the local

Merchant Shipping Ordinance, No.10 of 1899. I understand,

however, that new legislation on this subject is under

contemplation at home, and have to enquire whether any

information can be supplied on this matter, such as would

be of assistance in the revision of the Hong Kong Ordinance
